INDIA INTELLIGENCE · PART 1 · NATIONAL PULSE · SEPTEMBER 2026

India is still expanding. The geography of that expansion matters more.

Vasundhara's national intelligence programme starts with a simple proposition: national growth is useful only when translated into the places, corridors, industries, talent pools and household markets where people will actually build and live.

01 · MACRO SIGNAL

A strong start to FY2026–27 — but the national number is only the first layer.

MoSPI's latest Q1 estimate puts real GDP growth at 7.8% year-on-year, with real GVA growth at 8.2%. The new national-accounts series uses 2022–23 as its base year and incorporates updated source data and methodology, so Vasundhara should keep old-series and new-series levels strictly separated.

02 · WHERE THE MOMENTUM IS

Three engines are especially relevant to Vasundhara.

Manufacturing

Capacity is becoming geographically consequential.

Manufacturing growth of about 9.2% in Q1 FY27, alongside sustained construction activity, strengthens the case for tracking industrial corridors, supplier ecosystems, worker housing and secondary-city expansion together rather than as separate datasets.

Services

High-value services remain concentrated.

Services grew around 10% in Q1 FY27. The Economic Survey identifies Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Telangana as a major concentration of services output. Vasundhara should therefore map service-economy spillovers into surrounding housing, education, mobility and second-home markets.

Investment

Capital formation is a location signal.

Gross fixed capital formation grew 11.9% in Q1 FY27. For the platform, this means infrastructure, industrial investment and private construction should become leading indicators in regional screening—not merely retrospective statistics.

03 · VASUNDHARA INTERPRETATION

The next unit of analysis is not the state. It is the corridor.

State averages hide the actual geography of opportunity. A Vasundhara corridor should connect an economic anchor to its surrounding labour market, service ecosystem, transport network, construction capacity and residential demand.

04 · THE RESEARCH AGENDA

What Vasundhara should measure next.

Layer A

Prosperity

District-level consumption, income proxies, deposits, credit, enterprise density and formal employment.

Layer B

Production

Industrial clusters, manufacturing growth, services concentration, exports, construction activity and major projects.

Layer C

People

Population, migration, workforce composition, education, professional talent and household formation.

Layer D

Connectivity

Highways, rail, airports, logistics nodes, travel times and the practical radius of professional services.

Layer E

Homes

Land availability, housing typologies, construction costs, local materials, planning constraints and second-home demand.

Layer F

Quality of place

Climate, water, landscape, air quality, education, healthcare, culture and long-term liveability.

05 · WHY THIS CHANGES THE PLATFORM

India Intelligence becomes the operating system behind Homes.

Discovery gets smarter.

A visitor should eventually be able to move from a PIN or region to an evidence-backed explanation of why that place matters.

Professionals become contextual.

Architects, engineers, contractors and specialists can be ranked by the geography and building conditions in which they actually operate.

Land becomes intelligible.

Instead of showing plots as isolated listings, Vasundhara can explain their economic, ecological and infrastructural context.

Research compounds.

Every regional dossier adds structured knowledge to the same national model, making the next location faster and better understood.

SOURCE DISCIPLINE

Official data first. Interpretation clearly separated from fact.

This page uses current official releases as its quantitative baseline. Vasundhara's interpretation is explicitly labelled as such. Historical values should be compared only within compatible statistical series.

RESEARCH UPDATE · 24 SEPTEMBER 2026

The macro layer is now anchored to a dated Q1 FY2026–27 and July 2026 evidence set.

The latest government release reports 7.8% real GDP growth and 8.2% real GVA growth in Q1 FY2026–27. On the expenditure side, GFCF grew 11.9%, private final consumption 7.1% and exports 12.0%. July industrial production increased 6.7%, while bank credit to industry and services grew 20.0% and 22.9%, respectively.

What this provesA broad expansion in output, fixed investment, household spending and industrial/service credit at the national level.
What it does not proveIt does not identify the districts or villages where residential design/build demand will convert, nor does it establish private housing commissioning.
Next evidence descentMatch state and district production with household consumption, enterprise density, labour participation, access and housing-stock change.
Data disciplineThe current national-accounts series uses 2022–23 as base year. Earlier series should not be mixed into the same calculation without an explicit bridge.
